Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving in which a diver uses a scuba set to breathe underwater for recreation, commercial or industrial reasons. Unlike early diving, which relied exclusively on air pumped from the surface, scuba divers carry their own source of breathing gas (usually compressed air),allowing them greater freedom than with an air line. Both surface supplied and scuba diving allow divers to stay underwater significantly longer than with breath-holding techniques as used in snorkelling and free-diving. According to the purpose of the dive, a diver usually moves underwater by swimfins attached to his feet, but external propulsion can come from an underwater vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface.

There are many diving sites on Banda Islands, for example like Sonegat, Keraka Island, Sjahrir Island, Mount Api, Lontar Island, Batu Belanda, Ai Island, and Hatta Island. In those places, you will get a beautiful environment and makes your diving to be wonderful and unforgetable.

Many tourist went to Banda Islands just for diving because they said that the sea in Banda Islands is very clean and beautiful. They also suggest for other people from outside Indonesia to go to Banda Islands to go for a dive.

Diving Tips :

  • Diving is possible all year round, but the monsoon may restrict your choice of dive sites from July to September,
  • Diving is usually comfortable, with good visibility and calm waters, but some of the dive sites are subject to conditions that make them suitable for experienced divers only,
  • Don't forget to equipped yourself with diving equipments, surf board and snorkel,
  • Try to hire equipment from larger firms as these tend to be more reliable, but remember the responsibility of checking the equipment is ultimately yours,
  • Bring a bathing suit and extra clothings.
